Add-On Therapy

ELECTROTHERAPY (E-STIM)

Electrotherapy, commonly referred to as E-Stim, is a safe, non-invasive treatment that uses gentle electrical currents to help your body reduce pain, decrease inflammation, and support natural healing. It’s widely used in athletic training, physical therapy, chiropractic care, and recovery settings, making it a valuable tool for active individuals recovering from injury or managing chronic pain. During treatment, small electrodes are placed on the skin over the targeted area. The electrical stimulation encourages muscles and nerves to activate, increasing circulation, helping relax tight tissues, and promoting healthy recovery. Most people describe the sensation as a comfortable tingling or light pulsing — not painful.

E-Stim can be used effectively for:

•Muscle strains and tightness
•Joint pain and stiffness
•Sports-related injuries
•Nerve pain or irritation
•Post-surgical recovery
•General soreness and overuse discomfort

It may also help improve circulation, enhance muscle activation, and reduce swelling — all of which support faster recovery and better movement.

Whether you’re an athlete, recovering from injury, dealing with chronic pain, or simply trying to move better, E-Stim can be an effective addition to your recovery plan.

WHAT TO EXPECT

Before starting your E-Stim session, we’ll begin with a brief conversation about your current symptoms, areas of discomfort, activity level, and recovery goals. This helps us determine the appropriate type of electrical stimulation and intensity level, ensuring the treatment is safe, comfortable, and targeted to your needs.

Sessions generally range from 15 to 30 minutes, depending on the area being treated and the condition we are addressing. You will remain fully clothed during treatment; however, we will need to place small electrode pads directly on the skin over the muscle or joint being treated. We recommend wearing loose-fitting clothing that allows easy access to the area (for example: shorts for knee treatments or a sleeveless top for shoulder work).

During your session, you can expect a gentle pulsing, warming, or tingling sensation in the targeted area. The intensity is always adjusted to your comfort — treatment should not be painful. Many people find the sensation relaxing as muscles begin to loosen and tension decreases.

The goal of E-Stim therapy is to reduce pain, improve circulation, decrease inflammation, and support your body’s natural healing process, helping you move more comfortably and recover with confidence after each visit.
